For the truly adventurous! Approximately 37 miles north of Chiang Mai, situated on the banks of the Ping River, is Chiang Dao Elephant Camp. In an unspoiled setting, marvel at the worlds largest land animal, performing amazing feats of strength and skill, at the command of their 'mahouts'.

Then follow an exhilarating elephant trek through the neighboring jungle, past bamboo trees and hanging creepers, upwards toward a remote Lisu hilltribe village. The Lisu hilltribe people originated in Tibet and their villages are usually located in the mountains around 3280 feet. Local lunch is provided. After lunch, you will enjoy a thrilling river rafting adventure down the Ping River.

On return to Chiang Mai, the journey continues by road to an Orchid Farm at Mae Sa. There is ample time to stroll around this scenic area where a picturesque forest waterfall can also be found.

Chiangmai FULL DAY Sightseeing Private Tour 2 : Thaton and Long-necked Hilltribe including long-tailed boat trip. Approximately 176 kilometres north of Chiang Mai, situated at the border of Thailand and Burma, is Tha Thon district. On this tour you will visit 4 hilltribe villages, including Padong long necked Karen hilltribe village, which recently migrated from Burma.
Leave Chiang Mai for Chiang Dao which is approximately 1 1/2 hours drive away. Visit Chiang Dao cave, then proceed to visit Palong and Lisu village. Continue on to Tha Ton, where local lunch will be provided.

After lunch travel by private long-tailed boat trip on the Mae Kok River for 45 minutes to Baan Mai Mok Cham, a Shan village. Continue on to the long-necked Karen village and Akha village. Return to your hotel in Chiang Mai at approximately 6:30pm.

This view was taken in the north of Thailand. On the left, you can see a village of long necks on the hills. This panorama picture was taken during a one day trip going from Chiang Mai to the Golden Triangle and bringing us to the long neck village. When returning to the minivan, the sky started to shift colors and made this shot possible.

Get an insight into the wealth of beautiful and historic Buddhist Wats temples on this private tour from Chiang Mai.

With 36 Wats within the old city walls and many more in the surrounding countryside, this private Chiang Mai temples tour will leave you fascinated.

Near the summit of Doi Suthep, a 5300 feet peak named after the hermit Sudeva who lived on the mountain's slopes for many years, is the 600 year old temple of WAT PHRATHAT DOI SUTHEP. After a drive up the mountain's winding road, the final climb to the site is via an enormous mythological Nagas (Dragon-headed serpent) staircase of 306 steps. On a clear day, there are incomparable views over the city of Chiang Mai from the temple grounds.

WAT CHEDI LUANG consist of an impressive chedi, originally built in 1411. It reached a height of over 278 feet before it was partially destroyed by an earthquake in 1545. It now reaches a height of 196 feet. The temple also contains the city pillar. Statue in small shelters surrounding this building are the home of guardian spirits.
