NORTHERN THAILAND TOUR: WHERE DOES IT START?
Before discussing the Northern Thailand tour, it is essential to clarify where it begins. In fact, Northern Thailand is a very large area of Thailand and it is good to establish the points of reference at a logistical level. A Northern Thailand tour can therefore have three starting points: Bangkok, Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai.
NORTHERN THAILAND TOUR FROM BANGKOK
Considering Bangkok as the first starting point, you can reach the North either by land with a Northern Thailand itinerant tour or by air flight. If you opt for the land solution, we recommend a two-day mini-tour of the ancient capitals of Thailand, namely Ayutthaya and Sukhothai. At the end of these stages, you can continue the Northern Thailand tour with destination Chiang Rai or Chiang Mai. For the Northern Thailand tour, we recommend at least 5 days and 4 nights so that you can dedicate 3 full days to visits.
CLASSIC NORTHERN THAILAND TOUR OR WITH A SINGLE REFERENCE POINT IN CHIANG MAI.
A unique way to visit Northern Thailand is to use Chiang Mai as your hub for all your experiences and excursions. Starting from Chiang Mai, you can take day trips to visit the ancient capital of the Lanna Kingdom or explore the surrounding nature and off-the-beaten-path experiences on eco tours. To visit the temples of Chiang Rai and the Golden Triangle, we recommend the classic tour with stops in Chiang Rai and then Chiang Mai. Given the enormous distance between Chiang Mai and the Golden Triangle, we only operate this tour from Chiang Rai. Finally, if the tour departs from Chiang Rai, Thailandweb will need to send a guide from Bangkok or Chiang Mai.
